Labour Market Development Specialist (AEEDC)

Contract Full Time

Location: Athabasca Basin Region, Saskatchewan

Reporting to: AEEDC Representative

Position:

The Athabasca Education Employment and Development Committee (AEEDC), in partnership with the Ya’thi Néné Land and Resource Office, is seeking an experienced Labour Market Development Specialist to lead a transformative initiative in the Athabasca Basin region.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of workforce development in Northern Saskatchewan by designing and implementing a coordinated Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) strategy. Your work will directly support sustainable, generational employment pathways for Indigenous communities and regional stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Employer Engagement & Data Collection
    Build trusted relationships with regional employers, especially in mining and critical minerals, and lead structured labour market surveys and interviews.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting
    Analyze labour market data to identify trends, skill gaps, and opportunities. Create clear, culturally appropriate reports and visualizations for diverse audiences.

  • Stakeholder Coordination
    Share insights with communities, educational institutions, industry, and government partners. Facilitate consultations and support AEEDC Committee activities.

  • Capacity Building & Fundraising
    Train local stakeholders in LMI methods and develop strategies to secure funding for regional education and employment initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 10–15 years of experience in labour market intelligence, workforce or economic development.

  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Expertise in data analysis and reporting.

  • Deep understanding of Indigenous cultures and governance, especially in Northern or remote communities.

  • Experience in mining, critical minerals, or exploration is a strong asset.

  • Post-secondary education in economics, workforce development, business, or related fields.

  • Certifications in project management or data analysis are an asset
