The Organization

The Permanent Resident Organization (PRO) includes the municipalities of Stony Rapids, Wollaston Post, Camsell Portage and Uranium City.

Position

We are currently seeking a Permanent Resident Organization (PRO) Member who is energetic, professional, and proactive to join our Board of Directors. The Member must ordinarily reside in the Athabasca community of Uranium City or Camsell Portage. Board members help guide the organization by providing advice, approving budgets, supporting planning, and making decisions that are in the best long-term interests of the organization. Board members are expected to participate respectfully, bring community perspectives, and help ensure the organization is accountable to the leadership and communities it serves.

Responsibilities

·         Take part in setting goals for the organization and checking progress toward those goals

·         Prepare for and attend Board meetings (held quarterly) and other meetings as needed

·         Be respectful to different views, share your own ideas, and work toward balanced decisions

·         Support Board decisions once they are made

·         Follow the Boards bylaws, code of conduct, and policies

·         Help review and approve the annual budget and workplan, and monitor results

·         Act as a positive representative of the organization in the community

·         Keep other Board members informed of actions or conversations that may affect the organization

·         Build and maintain respectful relationships with elected leadership, other Directors and partners

 

Qualifications

·         an individual who is at least 18 years of age;

·         an individual who has not been declared incapable by a court;

·         an individual who does not have the status of bankrupt;

·         an individual who is a permanent resident ordinarily living in either of the Athabasca communities of Uranium City or Camsell Portage;

·         an individual who is not an elected official of any government, including a municipality, a rural municipality, the federal government, the provincial government, a First Nation, or any Métis government or organization.
