Community Land Technician Supervisor
1-Year Term, Full Time
Location: Athabasca Basin (preferred) or Saskatoon
Reporting to: YNLR Manager of Environment
Position:
Under the supervision of YNLR’s Manager of Environment, the Community Land Technician Supervisor will support and coordinate a team of Community Land Technicians (CLTs) based in Athabasca Basin communities. This position plays a key role in facilitating land-based and community initiatives, ensuring consistent implementation of environmental monitoring, community engagement, and land stewardship activities across the region.
The Supervisor will provide supervision, mentorship, logistical support, and daily coordination for CLTs, management and maintenance of YNLR assets in communities, and also contribute to the advancement of YNLR’s Etthén Néné Stewardship Areas (ENSAs) and partnerships with exploration and mining companies.
Responsibilities:
Daily coordination, supervision, and support of CLTs in Black Lake, Fond du Lac, Hatchet Lake, and Uranium City. This involves but is not limited to:
Communicate daily tasks and schedules, ensuring there is coordination with other departmental and staff needs
Communicate and ensure adherence to YNLR policy
Support training and capacity-building initiatives for CLTs and community members
Track field work and travel using various technologies
Develop, support, and ensure adherence to YNLR safety programs and expectations
Review and compile reports, ensuring consistency and quality in documentation and data collection
Assist with organization and facilitation of community engagement sessions and interviews with Elders, Leadership, Land Users, and Youth
Provide logistical support for field work, travel, and equipment needs
Facilitate land-based activities and ensure alignment with YNLR’s environmental and stewardship goals.
Liaise with exploration companies and other stakeholders to support responsible land use and site inspections.
Assist with budget tracking, reporting, and administrative coordination for land programs.
Asset management in Athabasca Basin communities: maintain inventory lists and assist CLTs with maintenance of equipment.
Travel regularly to Athabasca Basin communities and remote locations for coordination, meetings, and field work.
This position may occasionally require work outside of regular business hours.
Perform other duties as may be required or assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Post-secondary education in environmental science, land/resource management, Indigenous studies, and/or a related field; and/or equivalent experience in a related area.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in project coordination and/or related roles, preferably in Indigenous or northern community contexts.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Familiarity with land use planning, environmental monitoring, and Indigenous governance.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and Teams.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly.
Vulnerable Sector Security Clearance (CPIC).
Ability to speak Dene is considered a strong asset.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
